AI has reached a point where it can do some seriously impressive things, like writing code—even if you have no idea how to code!

This week, I’m going to show you how I created a Chrome extension from scratch in less than an hour, all thanks to AI.

Yes, you read that right. In under 60 minutes, I had a fully functional Chrome extension.

And the best part is that you can create your own internal tools, powered by AI, as quickly as that.

Here’s exactly how I did it, step by step ↓

1. Choose the Right AI Chatbot (LLM) for Your Project

First things first, you need to select the right Large Language Model (LLM) to work with.

If your project is simple, ChatGPT 4o or Gemini Advanced are great choices.

However, for more complex projects, the best tool on the market right now is Claude 3.5 Sonnet.

For example, I wanted to create a Chrome extension that allows me to speak in French while typing in English using AI.

For this, I chose Claude 3.5, as it's perfect for advanced tasks like these.

2. Describe the App You Want to Create

Next, you’ll need to open a new conversation with your chosen AI and describe the app you want to build.

Simple prompt example:
“I want to create a Chrome extension that allows me to turn my French speech (when I press a shortcut) into English text in any text field on the web.”

Tip: If your app requires calling APIs, don’t worry! Just copy and paste the entire API documentation directly into Claude.

3. Copy and Paste the Code into Text Files

Once you’ve given the prompt, Claude will generate all the necessary code along with the correct file names.

Your job?

Simply copy and paste that code into a text editor and save the files with the right extensions.

4. Test and Adjust Your App

And here’s the fun part—testing your new app!

Sure, you might hit a snag or two at first, but don’t sweat it.

Just describe the issue to the AI, and it will suggest corrections. Then, try again until it works perfectly!

In less than an hour, you can have a fully functional tool, created entirely by AI, without ever having to write a line of code yourself.
