Many people don't know it, but ChatGPT can help you learn a new language (and you can choose which one).

You can turn it into your own personal teacher with just one prompt.

What if you had a personalized language teacher with infinite patience?

Well, ChatGPT does just that, if you write the right prompt!

And contrary to popular belief, you can also improve your listening comprehension and pronunciation.

1. Enter the initial prompt

Write this prompt in ChatGPT (it works with both the free version and ChatGPT Plus):

Act as a spoken French teacher and improver. I will speak to you in French and you will reply to me in French to practice my spoken French. Translate your answers into English to help me only if I ask you.
I want you to:
- Keep your reply neat, limiting the reply to 100 words.
- Point out and correct all the conjugation, spelling, grammar, and other mistakes I make, that's the most important.
- Ask me a question in your reply.
Your questions should always be in French and you should use English only to explain my mistakes.

Here I've chosen French, but of course you can choose any language you like.

2. Answer the first question

ChatGPT will ask you the first question in the language you have chosen, here French.

Just answer the question it asked you in the language you want to learn.

If you don't understand the question it's asking, you can also ask it in English (I'll show you how below).

3. ChatGPT answers and corrects you

ChatGPT will then explain if you made a mistake.

It will also automatically ask you a new question to continue the conversation.

4. Ask for an explanation in English

If you don't understand its answer ask it to explain your mistake in your native language.

Prompt → Explain my mistake in English.

When we're learning, we sometimes need a reference point in our native language.

So don't panic. You can ask it at any time to translate an explanation or a question it asks.

5. Learn to pronounce the words

If you have access to plugins with ChatGPT Plus, activate "Speechki" to work on your new language orally.

Now learning a language with ChatGPT holds no secrets for you!

Of course, for the moment it's no substitute for a real teacher, but at least it allows you to progress at your own pace and when you want to, with no time constraints...
