You probably know Microsoft Copilot, the AI-powered assistant that helps you search and write anything.

But did you know that you can also make it write like you? That’s right, you can train Copilot to copy your writing style using a simple technique.

And the best part is that you don’t need a paid account to do it.

Train Copilot in a few minutes

All you need to do is follow these steps to teach Copilot how to write text in your style.

(Don’t worry, I’ll explain each step in detail, so you can easily apply it).

1. Create a PDF with examples of code you’ve already written

You can use any text editor (like Word) to write your copy-paste your examples and then export it as a PDF.

As usual, display the e-mail images to see the illustrations!

Make sure you include several examples. In my case, for example, I'm copying 5 different newsletters that I've already written myself.

The more examples you give, the better Copilot will learn from them.

2. Access to Copilot in Edge

Head over to microsoft.com/en-us/edge/download to download the Edge version for your computer.

Note: it is already present by default on Windows 10 and 11. You need to use Edge because it has a built-in Copilot feature that works with PDF files.

It’s like having ChatGPT in your browser!

3. Open your PDF

Open your PDF with Edge and click on the Copilot icon in the top right-hand corner.

Then just select Creative mode. This will activate GPT-4 and allow you to get maximum power from Copilot.

In my case, I'm going to write a new newsletter draft. Here's the template you can use:

"Analyze the writing style, redundant elements and structure of the [newsletter] examples in this document. Then write a new [newsletter] with the same writing style, structure and elements to talk about [topic]."

And you can ask Copilot to make changes in the same conversation.

Telling it to use Markdown for writing can also be very useful!

It’s the most effective free method I’ve found for imitating a coding style using AI.
