Today, we're diving deep into the world of Google Gemini's new Gems feature.

These custom AI chats have access to YouTube, Gmail, Drive, and more, opening up a whole new realm of possibilities that ChatGPT custom GPTs simply can't touch.

Let's explore how to create your own email assistant using Gems:

1. Access the Gem Manager

First, fire up Gemini Advanced and locate the new Gem icon at the bottom left.

Click on it, then select "New Gem."

2. Create Your Gem

Give your Gem a descriptive name, then it's time to write the instructions that will bring it to life.

To tap into an extension's power, type "@" followed by your desired extension (YouTube, Drive, Docs, Maps, Gmail, etc.).

Here's a prompt template to create a personal Gmail assistant:

"You're an AI @Gmail assistant specializing in email organization and content summarization. Analyze my inbox and categorize my last emails into [three] groups: [Newsletters, Questions, and Others]. For each newsletter, extract the five most crucial pieces of information and present them as concise bullet points. Once the sorting and summarization are done, inquire if I'd like you to draft responses to the emails categorized as 'Questions.' If I confirm, generate draft replies for each 'Question' email."

3. Test and Save Your Gem

Use the "Preview" section to test your Gem's capabilities.

Once you're satisfied, click "Save", then "Start Chat" to finalize the creation process.

4. Access Your Gems

To chat with your Gem, open the left-hand menu and select the one you want.

Gemini will automatically display your recent conversations with that Gem.

With Gemini's Gems, you can create personalized AI assistants that cater to your specific needs.

From managing your inbox to summarizing YouTube videos, the possibilities are endless. It's like having a team of AI experts working for you around the clock!
